Our inspired Stake President has challenged all new members to read the Book of Mormon this year. The Western Family was baptized on Sept 23, 2011. We thought it would be appropriate to set a goal to read the Book of Mormon by Sept 23, 2012. And how much more fun is any challenge when you do it with friends!?
Why are you sending this to me?
Bishop Tate decided that the Home Teachers of new members would deliver the challenge issued by President Banks. Andy Wheatley and myself didn't think we should ask the Westerns to do something we weren't doing ourselves. We took the challenge to read along with the Westerns and then thought, "Hey! We have two more awesome families that might want to join in and reap the blessings of this great challenge too."
What do you want me to do?
Simply put, read the Book of Mormon along with us. The Westerns have already accepted the challenge and we've used an online tool to determine that we need to read about 2 pages/day to finish by Sept 23. We'd also like everyone to share thoughts about what they're reading or experiences that relate to those you are reading about in the Book of Mormon. No need to post every day, just when you feel like sharing or are prompted to do so. Once we get the email addresses that you want to use, we'll lock down the blog so it is private.

I know that as we read the Book of Mormon we'll strengthen our families. As we do so together, we'll strengthen each other in this effort. For now, just start from the beginning.
